Our charming Sun Hat magnet adds a splash of color to any spot it clings.

Make this hat for wedding and shower favors, bazaar sales or even as prizes for the local personal care home's weekly Bingo.

Directions  
  1. Glue the lace to the backedge of the hat. Overlap the lace by 1/4 inch.
  2. Place a dot glue to the middle of the headband and attach the narrow ribbon. I usually dot the glue across from the overlapped lace edge.
  3. Tie the ribbon ends around the headband without making the bow. You can finish tying the bow after the flowers are attached.
  4. Glue the flowers to the head band and brim.
  5. Finish tying the bow and snip the ribbon streamers to about 4 inches.
  6. Turn the hat over and glue a magnet to the top of the hat back.

Materials

  • 6"straw hat
  • approximately 1 yard of narrow (1/2"and smaller) craft ribbon
  • 1 yard of lace
  • Medium disk magnet
  • assorted small silk flowers
  • glue & glue gun
  
 
   

This hat can be made for all holidays. It is a great way to use up left over craft items.

Give your friend a sun hat for the fridge!

  Simple additions
  • add lace to the hat headband before you add the ribbon.
  • add two different colored ribbons
  • spray paint the hat before beginning the project
  • add tiny bells, balls or figures to the headband along with flowers
